High Quality Thermistor Certification

NTC Thermistor and Blood Glucose Meter

Jun 28, 2024

As living standards improve and medical technology advances, blood glucose meters are being designed to enhance patient comfort and convenience by requiring less blood. Many modern devices now use very small blood samples and allow blood collection from various parts of the body, eliminating the need to draw blood from fingers. The use of NTC thermistors for temperature detection further reduces patient discomfort during daily testing.

Blood glucose testing relies on bioelectrochemical reactions, where temperature plays a crucial role. The activity of glucose oxidase varies with temperature, causing blood samples with the same glucose concentration to produce different currents under different ambient temperatures. Accurate blood glucose measurements, therefore, require temperature detection using a temperature measuring element. If the ambient temperature is unsuitable, glucose oxidase loses its activity, and the blood glucose meter will sound an alarm, prompting the patient to stop the procedure to avoid incorrect measurements.

Generally, glucose oxidase activity remains stable above 20°C but diminishes below this temperature, resulting in lower activity and smaller currents generated during glucose reactions, leading to inaccurate measurements. To ensure accurate blood glucose readings at varying temperatures, the blood glucose meter performs real-time temperature detection. This allows glucose oxidase and blood to generate appropriate currents corresponding to the actual blood glucose level, ensuring accurate readings.

The temperature measuring element in a blood glucose meter must have fast response times and good stability to provide quick and accurate test data. Therefore, selecting a temperature measuring element with sensitive response, accurate temperature measurement, reliable performance, high quality, and reasonable cost is essential. The MF52 series NTC thermistor, produced by Nanjing Shiheng Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., meets these criteria with high test accuracy, compact size, fast response speed, and long-term stable operation. It operates within a temperature range of -40 to 125°C, ensuring the accuracy of blood glucose meter tests.

Nanjing Shiheng Electronics’ MF52 series NTC thermistors come with complete product certifications and multiple specifications and models. They feature high sensitivity, precision, stability, reliability, resistance accuracy, safe use, small size, lightweight, solid structure, and easy automatic installation. These high-quality, reasonably priced thermistors are highly favored by medical electronics customers and are also widely used in household appliances and automotive electronics, earning deep trust from users.
